The VMM (Volunteer Missionary Movement) began working in 1969 in Uganda. Since then VMM has worked in nearly 40 countries, with the principle: that authentic human development must foster the development of each person and of the whole person. Today VMM remains faithful to that challenge of putting those values into action.
VMM’s radical voice has always worked for the marginalised and the poor and its service has generally been focused upon the economically disadvantaged regions of the world, in particular Africa. Today, the VMM is an international lay Christian movement whose members “share their lives, faith, resources and skills to promote equality, respect and dignity for all”. This is their Mission Statement VMM have worked with Respond and Sivile to send volunteers to work with us in Kokstad and Hardenberg. Mr Jim James Cahill has been one of these volunteers with Sivile for the past three years.Jim gave alot of his time and knowledge in establishing the protea poultry project for the community of Ranhlakoana area in Hardenburg. In addition he promoted and encouraged through security gardens with specific reference to the Hardenburg community centre.Sivile is in the process of recruiting new volunteers to come and work with us in the next two or three years.
